Hello sports fans! I don’t know about you, but I am counting down days until Selection Sunday, when we find out which teams will be invited to this year’s NCAA College Basketball Tournament. It is “March Madness” for sure!

Whether you are preparing to watch your favorite team play at the “big dance” or waiting for baseball’s opening day, many of you proudly wear some sort of team spirit wear to every game you attend.

So today I’m sharing my favorite jewelry care tips that will keep your team spirit jewelry looking new for years to come!

Beaded Jewelry

Let’s started with beaded bracelets and earrings, as those are the most popular styles at Team Colors by Carrie:

  1. Wipe your beaded jewelry with a soft cloth to remove finger prints and skin oils, then store in a cloth bag or in the gift box it came in.
  2. Use warm water and a little soap as needed.
  3. Be sure to remove all of the soap, as it can cause a film to form, making jewelry appear dull and dingy.
  4. And wipe your jewelry completely dry before putting it away.

Water Safe Jewelry

A question I am often asked is whether or not you can wear your jewelry in the shower. I don’t recommend it, as extended exposure to hot water can be damaging to any jewelry. The exception is paracord bracelets, as the material is designed to stand up to water!

Leather Jewelry

Now what about caring for leather jewelry?

  1. Be extra careful with leather jewelry, as water can discolor some leathers.
  2. Use a damp (not wet) cloth if cleaning is necessary.
  3. Leather earrings should be hung up or laid flat for storage.
  4. If your leather earrings get bent, cover the leather with a cloth or towel, then lightly steam it with a barely warm iron to straighten the leather.

A common question about my leather jewelry is whether or not you can use essential oils with them. Essential oils are increasingly popular, but I don’t recommend using them with your leather jewelry. The oils will discolor many leathers and can’t be removed.

That covers the mostly frequently asked questions that I get about the jewelry at Team Colors by Carrie. If you have any other questions, drop them in the comments below!

Until next week,

Carrie
