Bracelets are one of my favorite ways to show off my sports team colors on game day. And I love paracord, because it comes in a wide range of bright colors, is water proof and super durable, and makes a bracelet that is really lightweight and comfortable.

I sell a lot of paracord bracelets in my Team Colors by Carrie Etsy shop, and recently added this fun diamond braided bracelet to the collection. But knowing a lot of my followers are DIYers, I thought I’d show you how make your own!

So let’s do it!

Step 1 – Collect the Materials

  • 2 colors of paracord – 40” of each
  • sharp scissors
  • lighter
  • ruler or tape measure

Step 2 – Make the Braid

a. Cut 40″ of each paracord color, and use the lighter to melt the ends

b. Fold both pieces in half, and interlock the folds:

.

c. Take top right cord, and from behind, go up through the 2 left cords, then across and back to bottom of right side, and pull snug:

.

d. Take the left top cord, and from behind, go up through the 2 right cords, then back to bottom of left side and pull snug:

.

e. Repeat steps b and c, alternating right side and left side, until the braid is about 1” shorter than your desired finished bracelet length:

.

Step 3 – Finish the End of the Braid

a. Hold the last knot tightly with one hand, and use 1 strand of paracord to wrap loosely around the end 3 times:

.

b. Thread the end of that strand back through all 3 wraps, and pull really tight, using the opposite hand to keep the wrapped pieces tidy:

.

c. Save one strand from the best looking side of the knot, then cut off remaining 3 strands. Melt to seal.

.

Step 4 – Finish the Bracelet

a. Use your fingers to open up a small loop on the starting end of the braid, then slip the remaining single strand of paracord through that loop:

.

b. Slip the bracelet over your hand and onto your wrist, and pull snug.

.

c. Slide open the bracelet by about 3 inches (or enough to fit over your hand), and take it off, using your hand to mark that 3″ spot. Tie a simple overhand knot at the 3″ mark, then trim and melt to seal:

.

And that’s it! You now have a finished bracelet, ready to wear to support your team.

.

To wear it, just slide it over your hand, then pull on the end to tighten it to your desired fit:

.

If you love the bracelet, but don’t want to make one yourself, don’t forget that you can stop by my Etsy store, and purchase one in your favorite colors:
