Sometimes people disappoint you.
Aaron Rodgers, for example.
If you follow sports, you probably know that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers got COVID, and had to go into the NFL’s 10-day protocol for non vaccinated players. He recovered, and was back playing with the team in Sunday’s game.
Not a big deal, right?
Except there is more to the story.

When asked about his vaccination status before the season started, Aaron replied that he was “immunized,” which every one took to mean he had been vaccinated. So no one questioned him when he appeared for press conferences or player meetings without wearing mask, which meant he was following NFL protocol for vaccinated players.
But then he got COVID, and it got out that he wasn’t vaccinated.
Don’t get me wrong. I believe every one has the right to make their own decisions about the vaccine.
But I DO NOT think its okay to disregard the NFL’s protocols for non-vaccinated players, just because you disagree with them or think you are smarter than everyone else.
It’s been the controversial topic between the believers in science and vaccines and the anti- vaccine mandate groups. In fact someone very close to me actually applauded what Aaron did, saying “it’s about time someone started standing up against all of these stupid rules.” The only problem with that argument is that Aaron didn’t really stand up to them. He just chose to ignore them.
So Aaron had to pay a small fine, as did the Packers organization, but it was more like a slap on the hand and a reminder not to do it again than a real penalty for breaking the rules. No suspension, and no further action required other than to sit out for 10 days, and test negative for COVID before he could play again.
So # 12 played on Sunday, and the Packers won and are now 8-2, and I’m happy they won because I am still a fan of the team.
But I did get a little angry all over again while watching the post game press conferences. Aaron answered questions through ZOOM, which is what he should have been doing all along if he didn’t want to wear a mask. When asked WHY he was doing this one through ZOOM, he dodged the question rather than own up to it and face the criticism.
I’m glad he’s feeling better, but I won’t ever think about him the same way again. I don’t like being lied to, and I’m not happy that he got away with it.
Am I way out of line on this one? Let me know what you think in the comments below!
Rant over. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest.
Next week I’ll be back your regularly scheduled programming.

Re: Aaron Rodgers. You said pretty much what I was feeling. NFL Rules are Rules, and he knew that and acted as if they didn’t apply to him. I admire his talents at football, and I glad we have him on our team, but I do feel somewhat different about him now.
