Hello, sports fans! I hope all is well and you are managing to find some kind of “normal” during this crazy 2020. I know I’m feeling a bit better now that we have both Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball games to watch.

The games are being played with no fans in the stands, which means more of us are watching from home than ever before. So why not treat homegating the same way you do tailgating, and do it up right! Plan a great menu, decorate in your team colors, and gather around the TV to cheer on your favorite players!

Today I’m sharing a super easy party decoration for your next homegate party. All you need is paper in your team colors, some string, some tape and a scissors!

Ready to get started?

Step 1 is to gather your supplies:

  • Paper in your team colors (choose patterns, solids or a mix)
  • Some string (I grabbed some embroidery floss I had laying around)
  • Tape (you could also use glue or a stapler )
  • A scissors

Step 2 is to cut your paper into strips:

  • I cut 4″ by 1″ strips, but you can make yours whatever size you’d like
  • I used 12″ x 12″ scrap book paper, so first I cut it into 4″ wide pieces, then cut those into 1″ strips

Step 3 is to tape your paper strips to your string:

  • First, cut your string to the width of the area where you plan to hang your garland, plus an extra 12″ for hanging
  • Tape the first paper strip about 6″ from one end of the string
  • Leave a gap, and add the second strip
  • NOTE: the back of my patterned paper is white, so I taped 2 pieces back to back so the pattern would always be showing
  • Keep going until you have just 6 inches of string left!

Step 4 is to hang your garland:

  • I chose to hang my garland from 3 push pins, but you could skip the middle one if you want to.
  • You could also just tape your garland to the wall or to a window.

How’s that for a quick and easy party decoration?

Be sure to subscribe, because I’m planning on sharing more ways to make your game day homegating parties more special!

See you next week,

Carrie
