Hello, sport fans! How is everyone this week? I’ve been keeping an eye on NFL training camps, and am counting down days until football starts again!

I don’t know about you, but I am always on the lookout for new ways to wear my favorite team colors. On game day, my standard outfit is a jersey or t-shirt and a pair of jeans, but that gets old long before the season ends. I also like to wear my team colors on other days, and don’t always want my outfit to shout “GREEN BAY PACKERS” to the world.

So what to do? Well, one answer is to just grab a t-shirt in a team color, and add accessories like jewelry from Team Colors by Carrie (shameless plug, I know).

Another answer it is to incorporate fun and unexpected accessories, like a bandana!  Bandanas are pretty trendy right now, so you can find them everywhere, and I’ve found a ton of ways to wear them to show off your favorite team colors!

Are you ready to find your new game day look? Let’s get started with my favorites!

The first thing you need to know is that a bandana is traditionally a square of cotton, with some kind of a paisley print on it. Many more patterns and materials are available today, and any square scarf you might have will work well for these looks.

First, let’s look at the best way to fold your bandana:

  1. Lay the bandana out on a flat surface.
  2. Fold it in half to form a triangle.
  3. Fold it in half again, aligning the corners with the folded edge.
  4. Continue folding the banana into the desired width.

Now let’s look at some easy ways to wear your bandana on your head:

One of the easiest ways to wear a bandana is as a hairband.  Just wrap it around your head to hold your hair back, with the knot on top, or hidden away in the back.

Another option for wearing a bandana with your hair down is the classic headband! It’s not my favorite, but it would look great if you like the hippie look!

A style I remember from my childhood is the classic kerchief, and you can wear it pulled partly over your forehead, or pulled back a little to expose some hair.

When you want your hair up, you can add some fun to a standard ponytail by tying on a bandana. The key to this style is to pull the folded bandana through your ponytail holder before knotting it, to hold it in place.

Another easy way is with a top knot or messy bun. I like the bandana as a head wrap to tame those flyaway hairs!

Now how about a few styles for the neck? I think of this one as the bank robber, because you could easily pull it up to cover your lower face.  The key to this one is to only fold the bandana in half before tying it around your neck.

The classic neck scarf is another easy look. You can tie the bandana close to the corners, and let it drape down. Or you can tie it more tightly around your neck with knot in front of off to one side!

You could also just wrap the bandana around your wrist as a bracelet!

And lastly, how about just tying 1 (or more) bandanas around the strap of your purse or bag, to add a little extra team spirit?

I hope this gives you some great ideas for using bandanas to add some team color to your game day (or every day) look!

Which style are you going to try first?

Until next week,

Carrie
