Hello fellow sports fans!
I’m back today with part 2 of the sports wall décor series, featuring a piece of baseball wall art. If you did the football wall art I showed you last week, you already know that painting this canvas artwork is a lot easier than you might think.
Are you ready to get started?
Step 1 – Gather the Supplies
Here’s what you need:
- Stretched canvas in the size of your choice (I recommend ones that are primed with gesso)*
- Paints in red and white (I recommend acrylic for easy clean-up)
- Small paint brush – a ¼” is good for the detail
- Newspapers (to protect your work area)
- A bowl or other round object (to create the curve of the stitches)
- A pencil

.
Step 2 –Preparation
- Lay some sheets of newspaper on your work area, along with your supplies

- Turn the bowl upside down, and lay it on one corner of the canvas. Use the pencil to lightly trace the curve.

- Repeat on the opposite corner.

.
Step 3 – Paint the stitching
- Shake your red paint well before starting
- Squirt a little paint on the newspaper. Put a little paint on your paintbrush, and paint over the pencil lines you created on the first corner.

- Paint on the side stitches at an angle to the main curve (use a baseball or this picture as a guide for placement and spacing).

- Repeat on the opposite corner.
- Let dry (read the directions on the paint for dry time).
- Wash your brush (acrylic paint washed up with soap and water, but read your directions).
.
Step 4 – Touch Up
- Apply a second coat of red paint if desired, and let dry.
- If needed, use the white paint to fix any smudges or red areas that got too big

- Let dry, and wash out your brush
.
That’s it! Your work of art is ready to hang on the wall!

Once the series is complete, I’ll be hanging mine in my office / art studio because I’m such a sports nut. Who do you know that would love these in their man cave or kid’s bedroom?
Stay tuned for the rest of this series (basketball is up next), and make sure you are following the blog so don’t you don’t miss out!
Until next week,
Carrie
