Hello, and welcome back! I’m so glad you are here!

To me, the month of May always feels like the start of Summer, and that means it’s red, white and blue time! Memorial Day, Flag Day and the 4th of July are all great reasons to wear the colors of the American Flag. And with the Summer Olympics in Tokyo this year, we’ll be cheering on Team USA, too!

And when I think of wearing red, white and blue, my favorite way to do that is some fun earrings, and I came up with the idea of earrings that look like little American Flags!

Want to take a peek at how I turned a design idea in my head into an actual product? Then you are in the right place!

One – The first thing I usually do is grab some paper and colored pencils, and create a rough sketch of what I can see in my mind:

Two – The next thing I do for these kinds of beaded fringe earrings is use graph paper to figure out the more detailed design and the bead counts. The red and white stripes were pretty easy, but it took a few tries to get the blue area with white “stars” figured out:

Three – I’ll select the beads colors I want to use, grab the other materials I need, and get started. The first step for these earrings is to count out the beads needed to match the design, and start stringing them onto headpins:

Four – Lining up the headpins in the correct order, and you can see the flag design coming together:

Five – Thread the headpins onto the hoops, and we are almost there:

Six – I repeat the process for the second earring:

Seven – Attach the hoops to some earwires, and the earrings are ready to wear!

And there you have it! From an idea in my head, to the American Flag earrings that are now available at Team Colors by Carrie!

I love answering your questions and giving you sneak peeks into what goes on behind the scenes, so comment below with anything else you’d like to know more about!

Until next week,

Carrie
