Hey, sports fans! Today’s topic isn’t sports related, but I know that many of you love celebrating the holidays as much as you love celebrating your favorite teams. And you love a good craft project, as long as its quick and easy like this one. Right?
I’ve seen pompom trees everywhere this season, and they can be pretty expensive! So I thought I’d make a run to my local craft store, and show you how to make one yourself.
Let’s start with the supplies:
- Pom poms – I bought 3 of these sets of green, red and white glitter pompoms. There were 50 in each set, in a mix of sizes. You may need more, depending on the size of your tree.
- A Styrofoam cone – mine is 6″ tall.
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks – you could use other types of glue, but I prefer hot glue because it sets quickly, so you don’t have to wait for it dry.

1 – Starting at the base of the cone, apply hot glue to one small section at a time, then attach large pom poms:
2 – Continue adding pom poms, working in small sections, and starting to mix in medium sized pom poms in the the second row:
3 – Add large and medium pom poms until the whole cone is covered:

4 – Use the smallest pom poms to fill in the gaps. It is easiest to apply glue directly to the pom pom before attaching it to the tree:
5 – Finish the tree by adding one large pom pom on top:

And that’s all there is to it! I love the sparkle of these glittery pom poms in traditional Christmas colors, but you could make your tree out of any colors you choose!

Let me know if you have any questions, or if you give this a try!
See you next week,
Carrie
