Hello sports fans!
Can you believe we are already in the middle of February? This month is flying by! Unless you are a baseball fan, and it feels like opening day will never get here (but March 28th is just 43 days away)!
Today I’m going to show you how to create adorable little hearts using just some yarn and a piece of cardboard! Use red, white or pink yarn for some cute Valentine’s decorations. Use your favorite sports team colors to add something fun to your game day party décor. Or match the colors in your living room, den or bedroom for some cute and cozy knick-knacks!
Ready to give them a try?
Gather the following supplies:
- Yarn
- Scissors
- Cardboard (I used an old cardboard box)
- Heart Template (optional) – see link below

Step 1 – Cut Hearts from Cardboard
- Draw heart shapes on your cardboard (freehand, or use the optional template)
- Cut out the hearts
Step 2 – Wrap the cardboard with Yarn
- Hold the end of the yarn to one side of the cardboard

- Start wrapping, in a random pattern

- Continue wrapping until the cardboard is completely covered, and you are happy with the thickness of the heart
Step 3 – Finishing up
- Trim the yarn, leaving about a 6” tail

- Take the tail, and tie a knot around another piece of yarn

- Trim the tail

Step 4 – Option for Hanging
- Cut a 8-10” piece yarn

- Thread through some yarn at the top of the heart
- Tie the two loose ends together to create a loop

Aren’t these fun? I set out a bowl of red, white and pink ones as a Valentine’s Day decoration. I’ll set out the red and white ones to cheer on my Wisconsin Badgers during March Madness, and green and yellow ones to cheer on my Green Bay Packers!
Until next week,
Carrie
