Hello sports fans!

I don’t know about you, but I’m already starting to go through football withdrawal.  It’s a good thing I also like to watch some hockey and some college basketball! The countdown to March Madness is on!

Now that it’s February, Valentine’s Day will be here NEXT week! If you are looking for a little something extra for the book lovers in your life, I’ve got the perfect project for you!

I’m going to show you how to fold a piece of paper into a heart shaped bookmark. You can choose any printed paper you like, to make it fit the personality of the reader.  I’m showing you some sports themed and floral papers, just to give you some ideas.

Ready to give them a try?

Gather the following supplies:

  • Printed scrapbook paper (thin paper works best)
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Pen
  • Clear tape

Step 1 – Cut the Paper

Use your ruler to measure and cut pieces of paper for each bookmark

5” x 2.5” for a small (2.5” x 2”) bookmark

6” x 3” for a medium (3.0” x 2.5”) bookmark

7” x 3.5” for a large bookmark (3.5” x 3”)

Step 2 – Folding

Take one of the pieces you cut and fold it in half length ways, right side out

Fold it in half again in the opposite direction

Open up that fold, then fold the right side up along the crease

Repeat with the left side

Flip the folded paper over

Take the tops and fold over about 1/2″

Fold in all of corners and crease sharply

Tape the folded corners flush to the back paper (be careful not to tape the bottom of the heart shut!)

Add another piece of tape inside the heart, across the opening

Step 3 – How to Use

Slide a book page between the front and back of the heart, to mark your page!

Aren’t these fun?

Until next week,

Carrie
