Hello sports fans! How did everyone’s teams do over the weekend? My Green Bay Packers finally got a win, and even though they are pretty much out of the playoff picture, it was nice to see them play a decent game!
Can you believe that Christmas is just 2 weeks away! Yikes! I need to get some more shopping done!
One thing I won’t be buying this year is tags to put on my holiday gift boxes. If you’ve been hanging around here for a while, you may have already tried the DIY Washi Tape Christmas Cards that I shared, and today I’m back with some gift tags to match!
Ready to give them a try?
Gather the following supplies:
- Blank gift tags
- Washi tape in holiday colors (the choice is up to you)
- Baker’s twine
- Pen
- Scissors
- Paper punches (optional)

Design 1 – Simple Stripes
- Place a piece of Washi tape straight across the bottom of the tag
- Place 2 or 3 additional pieces of Washi tape across the front
- Trim the ends of the Washi tape even with the sides of the tag
- Add “To” and “From” to the tag
- Cut a piece of bakers twine that is about 4 times the height of the tag
- Fold the twine in half
- Push the ends through the hole in the tag, then through the fold in the twine, and pull to tighten
Design 2 – Gift Box (works best with thin tape)
- Add a piece of Washi tape on the right side of the tag, about ¼” from the right edge
- Add a second piece of tape across the tag, just below the hole
- Trim the ends of the Washi tape even with the sides of the tag
- Add “To” and “From” to the tag
- Cut a piece of bakers twine that is about 4 times the height of the tag
- Fold the twine in half
- Push the ends through the hole in the tag, then through the fold in the twine, and pull to tighten
Design 3 – Christmas Tree
- Apply a square of Washi tape to the bottom of the tag for the “trunk”
- Add strips of washi tape to build the tree shape, starting with longer pieces on the bottom
- You can cut or tear your pieces of washi tape, depending on the look you want

- Flip the tag over and add “To” and “From” to the back of the tag
- Cut a piece of bakers twine that is about 4 times the height of the tag
- Fold the twine in half
- Push the ends through the hole in the tag, then through the fold in the twine, and pull to tighten

Design 4 – Heart
- Apply a strip of washi tape near the bottom of the tag
- Trim the ends of the Washi tape even with the sides of the tag
- Use a paper punch to cut out a shape in the middle of the tape
- Add “To” and “From” to the tag
- Cut a piece of bakers twine that is about 4 times the height of the tag
- Fold the twine in half
- Push the ends through the hole in the tag, then through the fold in the twine, and pull to tighten

Aren’t these fun?
