Hello fellow sports fans!

I am really excited to bring you another easy DIY project that is made from clothespins! And I think you will love it, because it’s decorative and practical at the same time.

Scarves are my favorite accessory.  I have a ton of them, but never seem to find a good way to store them, without them getting wrinkled. But keep reading to find out how to make this handy wall-mounted scarf holder using wooden clothespins.

Step 1 – Collect the Supplies

  • Clothespins
  • Spray paint
  • Scrap of light weight wood or cardboard (I used 12” by ~4”) for a base
    • My scarves are very lightweight, so a piece of cardboard worked well
  • Old cardboard box
  • Command Poster Hanging Strips
    • If you are using a heavy piece of wood, or your scarves are heavier weight, you may want to attached your hanger to the wall using screws
  • Household glue or wood glue

Step 2 – Paint the Clothespins and Base (do this outside)

  • Attach the clothespins to the cardboard box, standing them upright
  • Spray them with paint – half in each color
    • Make sure you get both sides, and the edges
    • It may take more than 1 coat (I sprayed mine twice)
  • Lay the scrap wood or cardboard out flat and spray
  • Let dry overnight

Step 3 – Create the Holder

  • Lay the clothespins out on the base. Make sure that they are evenly spaced… there should be about 1” to 1-1/2″ in between each pin.
  • Begin gluing the pins down.
  • Use a very thin coat of glue.
  • Make sure that the pins are all still evenly spaced and straight.
  • Let dry for at least an hour

Step 4 – Hang it Up!

  • Flip the scarf holder over, and attach a poster strip to each end
    • You may need more strips , depending on your wood
    • Read the instructions that came with the strips

  • Use the strips to attach the hanger to the wall
  • Clip your scarves with the clothespins

There you go!  How fun is that!

There’s a lot of room to personalize this project… try painting the clothespins in your team colors like I did, or in colors to match your bedroom or closet decor.

Comment below and let me know if you decided to make one!

Until next week,

Carrie
