Hello fellow sports fans!
We are truly coming to one of the most exciting times of the year for sports fans. Baseball playoffs start next week, football season is in full swing, and both hockey and basketball seasons get going over the next several weeks.
What a great time to add some new team spirit décor to your home!
I am really excited about the project I’m showing you today, because it’s something I’ve wanted to try for quite a while. I’m pleased to report that it’s super easy, and so much fun! And it uses items you find at the dollar store (are you starting to see a trend with my recent DIY craft posts)?
So let’s give it a try!
Step 1 – Collect the Supplies
Here’s what you need:
- Clothespins
- I bought 4 packs of 36 each, and used 78 total for the wreath
- You may need more or less, depending on your wreath size
- I’ll use the leftovers for another project (stay tuned)
- A wire wreath frame
- Mine is a 12” wreath (10” on the inside, and 14” on the outside)
- The frames with just 2 rings work too!
- Spray paint (I had to go to my local Home Depot for this)
- I used outdoor paint, as my wreath will hang on my front door
- You can use any acrylic paint, if yours will used indoors
- You can also paint using bottled paint and a paintbrush (it will just take longer)
- Old card board boxes (not shown)

Step 2 – Paint the Clothespins
- Attach the clothespins to the cardboard box, standing them upright

- Spray them with paint – half in each color
- Make sure you get both sides, and the edges
- It may take more than 1 coat (I sprayed mine twice)
- Let dry overnight
Step 3 – Create your Wreath
- Attach the clothespins to the wreath frame
- My form had 4 wire circles, and I used the 2 inner circles
- My pattern is as follows:
- One clothespin pointed in
- One clothespin pointed out
- One pointed in
- One pointed out
- Repeat the sequence with the second color

- Continue repeating the sequence all the way around the wreath

- Snug the clothespins tightly together on the inside of the circle, and leave a little gap on the outside of the circle, as you go.
- Note that I couldn’t complete the pattern in the last section, so did 3 of each color to make it fit

Step 5 – Hang it Up!
- OPTIONAL Tie a piece of wire or string to the wreath frame so you can hang it up.
- I just hung the wire frame over a nail

There you go! How fun is that?
What colors will you use for your wreath? Team colors? Holiday colors?
Comment below and let me know if you decided to make one!
Until next week,
Carrie
